Thousands drawn to Lake Carolina Parade of Homes
May 26, 2011

COLUMBIA, S.C. (May 26, 2011) - The Home Builders Association of Greater Columbia’s 2011 Parade of Homes drew over 7600 visitors to northeast Columbia’s Lake Carolina development, a 10-time winner of the prestigious Community of the Year award.  Parade attendees had the chance to tour fully decorated, custom homes by some of the Midlands’ top builders and to attend over 100 developer-sponsored special events during the course of the Parade.

Four of the five Parade homes were sold by the end of the two-week event, at an average sale price of $440,000 in Lake Carolina’s only gated neighborhood, The Peninsula. Lake Carolina consists 36 unique neighborhoods with homes from the low $100’s to over $1 million.

Carol Douis, president/ broker-in-charge for Lake Carolina Properties, feels that the success of the Parade enforces the adage that real estate markets truly are local and that “The sales success we see at Lake Carolina is unique to this development and points to the reputation and financial stability of the developer.”

Builders participating in this year’s Parade of Homes include Capogrossi Construction, Mungo/Sovereign Homes, Essex Homes, SE and Hallmark Homes International.

Lake Carolina offered a full calendar of events during the weeks of the Parade.  Some of the highlights included a boat ride and low country BBQ, local art exhibit, kayaking at the new Lake House event rental facility, fishing 101 and a wine and cheese date night.  “It was wonderful to see so many people come back day after day to enjoy everything that Lake Carolina has to offer,” said Douis.

Also featured at the Parade was “The Learning House,” fully decorated by students from Midlands Tech.  Each room was decorated by a group of students in the school’s Interior Design program. The groups worked together to create a unified look for the home while incorporating some of today’s top trends in home décor. Each room was designed on a budget and incorporated items that are readily available for today’s cost-conscious homebuyers.
